DHAKA, Aug 31, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said holding the national election is the only way to save the country in the current situation.

"The only way to save this country is holding the elections in due time. For this, everyone must remain united and move forward," he said while presiding over a discussion titled “The Purpose and Significance of Establishing BNP” marking the party's 47th founding anniversary.

BNP organised the event at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) in Ramna.

BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman addressed the event as the chief guest on virtual platform from London.

Mirza Fakhrul said that a certain group is trying to lead the country in a different direction. He also alleged that there are attempts to disrupt the election.

He said if BNP is voted to power, Tarique Rahman will become the prime minister of the country.

About the party’s 31-point reform programme, he said that the political and economic structure of Bangladesh can be changed by implementing the 31 points.
