DHAKA, Sep 1, 2025 (BSS) - The government has formed a high-level eight-member committee to scrutinize the possibilities as it plans to merge six agencies that deal with investment in the country.
Based on the committee’s recommendations, the government will decide its next course of action.
This was informed through a revised notification signed on August 28 by Dr. Ahmed Ullah, Director General-1 of the Chief Adviser’s Office.
Industries Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan has been made the convener of the committee.
Executive Chairman of BIDA and BEZA, Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, has been made the member-secretary. The other six members are: Commerce Adviser Sk. Bashir Uddin, Special Envoy of the Chief Adviser on International Affairs Lutfey Siddiqi, Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H. Mansur, Principal Secretary to the Chief Adviser M. Siraz Uddin Miah, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration Md. Mokhlesur Rahman, and Finance Secretary Md. Khairuzzaman Mozumder.
According to the notification, the committee will review and examine the overall proposal placed by BIDA regarding the merger of the six investment-related agencies and provide its opinion.
The six agencies under consideration for merger are: Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA), Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA), Public-Private Partnership Authority (PPPA), and Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC).
