One can’t be president of school-college managing committees more than two terms consecutively

DHAKA, Sept 1, 2025 (BSS) - The Ministry of Education has issued a gazette setting out the policy that the same person cannot be the president of a private school and college managing committee more than for two consecutive terms. 

The gazette also mentioned that if a person is to be nominated as the president of the governing body, he or she must have a Master's degree from a recognized university or a four year Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.  However, he or she can be re-nominated as president for the third term after a break of one term.

No person shall be nominated as the president of the governing body of more than one private educational institution. No person shall be nominated as the member of more than three private educational institutions of any type.

The education ministry on Sunday issued 'Barishal Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Lower Secondary, Secondary and Higher Secondary Level Private Educational Institutions Governing Body and Managing Committee Regulations-2025'.  

Mymensingh and Sylhet Education Boards issued the same notification on Sunday and the Dhaka Education Board issued the same one on August 28 last.

The managing committee will be formed comprising a president, three general teacher representatives, reserved female teacher representative, five general guardian representatives, reserved female guardian representative and founding member representative. 

All the general guardian representatives shall be elected by the vote of all the guardians of the students of the schools and colleges concerned.
