DHAKA, Sept 2, 2025 (BSS) - The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has thanked Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) for taking up a people-friendly programme on the occasion of its 47th foundation anniversary instead of the previously announced rally considering the public sufferings.

In a statement issued today, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police expresses its sincere thanks and gratitude to BNP for formulating constructive programmes by avoiding busy roads, keeping in mind the greater interests and comfort of the city residents.

The DMP also mentioned that in a densely populated city, when any programme is held by blocking the roads, the entire city comes to a standstill and it creates immense public suffering.

"This creative and people-friendly initiative taken by BNP considering the public suffering will undoubtedly set an example which will be considered as a good practice in carrying out political programmes," the statement said.

It is worth mentioning that on August 23, a DMP meeting was held with the central and Dhaka Metropolitan leaders of 32 political parties and alliances.

At the meeting, DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali called on the politicians present to hold political programmes at alternative places, avoiding public suffering.

The DMP believes that this innovative program of BNP on the occasion of its founding anniversary is a reflection of that call.
