Dhaka, Sept 2, 2025 (BSS) - Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki has extended heartfelt congratulations to Bangladeshi architect Marina Tabassum for winning the prestigious Aga Khan Award for Architecture 2025.

Marina Tabassum, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Bangladesh National Museum, is the first Bangladeshi architect to receive this distinguished architecture award twice.

This year, seven projects were announced as winners. The award ceremony will take place on September 15 in Bishkek, Kazakhstan.

Marina Tabassum was nominated this year for her 'Khudi Bari' or 'Little Houses' project. Earlier, in 2016, she was nominated for her architectural design of the Bait ur Rouf Mosque in Dhaka.

Collectively, this year's awarded projects have played a catalytic role in architecture by promoting pluralism, social transformation, cultural dialogue, and climate-responsive design.

Notably, the award-winning project, 'Khudi Bari' or 'Little Houses', developed by Marina Tabassum Architects, is an innovative, affordable, and community-driven housing solution designed for riverine char communities in Bangladesh who are repeatedly displaced by floods and river erosion.
