In Bangladesh, a summary trial is a simplified and expedited process for trying minor criminal offenses, conducted by a magistrate without a jury.
This method streamlines the trial by limiting adjournments and formal evidence recording to allow for a quick resolution, with the magistrate's sentencing power capped at two years' imprisonment for the offenses specified in the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898.
