DHAKA, Sept 06, 2025 (BSS) - Six-year-old Jabir Ibrahim was on his way to join the student-people uprising on August 5, 2024, with his father, mother, sister and brother holding placards reading 'We Want Justice'.

Jabir, a nursery student of K.G. Model School in Uttara Dakshinkhan, had an unquenchable desire for patriotism in his young mind. They were staying with the protesters on the opposite side of Uttara Scholastica School.

At 4:30 pm, suddenly, about 15 to 20 policemen came forward from the north side of the road, firing sound grenades and blank shots at the protesters.

In panic, everyone started running to save their lives. Carrying Jabir in his arms, his father Kabir Hossain Bhuiyan was also running with the whole family. As soon as he walked a short distance with his son, Jabir was hit in the leg by a bullet.

The father's entire body was soaked in the blood of the baby Jabir. The child died of excessive bleeding as he was being taken to the hospital.

Losing beloved younger brother, his elder brother Mahtab Abdullah (12) and his elder sister Neha, a university student, are became speechless.

The family claims that Jabir is the youngest martyr of the July-August uprising in Bangladesh. The child's father Kabir Hossain Bhuiyan said, "I sacrificed my beloved son for the country. If the country and its people remain better in exchange for his son's life, then only my and our family's sacrifice will be worthwhile."

He also demanded exemplary punishment for all those involved in this genocide.

Six-and-a-half-year-old Riya Gop lived with her parents in Nayamati area of Narayanganj Sadar. They lived on the top floor of a four-story building.

After lunch, the girl went to play on the roof. Shortly after, a clash broke out on the street. Hearing a commotion in front of the house, the father rushed to bring his daughter room from the roof. As soon as he took the girl in his arms, a bullet hit the child's head. She was shot in her father's arms.

The little body immediately fell into his father's arms. The cause of Riya's death was recorded at Dhaka Medical College Hospital with gunshot injury.

She was the only child of Deepak Kumar Gop and Beauty Ghosh. After five years of marriage, Riya came to light up the couple's house.

When the relatives were shown the face of the girl on the stretcher before being taken from the morgue in an ambulance, they immediately burst into tears.

All the dreams of the entire family ended in one bullet.

Deepak Kumar and his wife are devastated by the loss of their only daughter. They have to carry the pain of losing their child all the time.

7-year-old Abdul Ahad stood between his father and mother. Three pairs of eyes stood on the balcony of the house, looking down. A clash was going on below the house with the police and Chhatra League protesters during quota reform movement.

Ahad suddenly fell on the floor. When the father tried to pick up his son, he saw his son's whole body covered in blood, Abul Hasan was stunned. Ahad's eyes, face, and head were covered in blood. The incident took place at around 4 pm on July 19 in the Rayerbag area of Jatrabari, in the capital.

Father Abul Hossain quickly came down with his bloody son in his arms. Ahad was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He was kept on life support in the ICU of the intensive care unit. The on duty doctor told his family that “the bullet was in the head. But to understand where it was, a CT scan would have to be done. But if we take him for a CT scan, all the equipment in the ICU would have to be detached from him. This could also lead to the death of the child”.

However, a CT scan is also necessary. But at around 8:30 pm that night, the doctor declared him dead while he was undergoing treatment in the ICU.

Later, he was buried in the family graveyard after Maghrib prayers in Pukhuria village.

Naima Sultana, 15, loved to draw. She was drawing that day too. While drawing, she was telling her mother that she would make pizza. At one point, she told her mother that she was going to the balcony to get dry clothes. Her mother was also following her daughter. As soon as Naima opened the balcony door, the bullet pierced through her head. This is how her mother Ainun Nahar was describing the incident that day. Naima was shot on the fourth floor of a five-story building in Sector 9 of Uttara in the capital on July 19 during the uprising.

Teenager Shafiq Uddin Ahmed Ahnaf, 17, who participated in the movement, was shot dead in Mirpur 10 in the capital on August 4. He always told his parents that when he grows up, he will do something that his family members will be proud of.

Teachers paid tribute by placing flowers on the empty seat in the classroom of Shafiq Uddin Ahmed Ahnaf, a class XI student of BAF Shaheen College.

Student Abdullah Al Mahin (16) was the only child of Jamil Hossain and Samira Jahan. He was killed by shotgun pellets in front of the RAJUK Commercial Complex in Azampur, Uttara, in the capital on August 4.

According to the Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs, a total of 132 children and adolescents and 11 women were martyred in the student uprising.

Women and Children's Affairs Adviser Sharmin S. Murshid confirmed the authenticity of the information.
