Skilled workforce, education, health key to development: Bidhan

DHAKA, Sept 6, 2025 (BSS) - Primary and Mass Education Adviser Professor Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder has said that the true development of Bangladesh relies on creating a healthy and well-educated people. 

He made this statement while addressing a seminar titled "Bangladesh's Achievements in Literacy and Future Plans", organized by NEMO Learning Limited at the National Press Club today on the occasion of International Literacy Day.

Bidhan highlighted the country's limited land resources, stating, "The country's land resources are inadequate compared to growing demand. Therefore, the most valuable resource for us is skilled manpower." 

He called for increased focus on technical education to equip the workforce with essential skills. 

He added that alongside quality education, attention must also be given to the health and social order of the nation.
 
"A healthy, educated and socially harmonious population is the cornerstone of sustainable national development," he added.

Professor Dr. Siddiqur Rahman, former Director of the Institute of Education and Research at Dhaka University, presented an article in the seminar.

The event was presided over by Zafar Raja Chowdhury, former Additional Secretary and Chairman of NEMO Learning. 

Distinguished guests including Debabrata Chakraborty, Acting Director General of the Bureau of Non-Formal Education; retired Brigadier General Nahidul Islam Khan; renowned actress Dilara Zaman; media personality Sohrab Hasan and Professor Dr. Md. Qutubuddin, Professor of Mathematics at Dhaka University and Managing Director of Academia Limited, were present as special guests.
