DHAKA, Sept 7, 2025 (BSS) - Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today formally launched the training programme to enhance the skills and capacity of the police to perform election duties professionally.

He launched the training programme at Rajarbagh Police Auditorium in the capital as the chief guest this morning.

Special Assistant to Chief Adviser (Equivalent to State Minister) Md. Khuda Baksh Chowdhury, Senior Home Secretary Nasimul Ghani and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam, among others, were present.

More than 1.5 lakh policemen will be trained through the training programme to perform duties to help secure the planned national elections in February next year.

Police Headquarters' HR department has formulated nine training modules over the past three months, incorporating suggestions of election experts and lawyers under the dynamic leadership of the IGP (Inspector General of Police) and the Additional IGP for HR.

They expect the course will be effective in preparing police personnel to handle any law and order situation successfully during the polls.

Bangladesh Police has 130 smaller and four larger training centres across the country, where personnel will be trained under the course outline for election duties.

The Police Headquarters developed two documentaries, a 15-minute audiovisual content and a nine-minute film, alongside a booklet.
Police have already trained 150 master trainers under the modules at the PHQ in Dhaka from August 31 to September 2, and plan to develop 1,292 master trainers, or trainers of trainers (ToT), at 19 police training centres across the country in the coming days.

The trainers will later train more than 1.5 lakh police personnel to serve on poll duty.
