Shipping ministry earns Tk 6,576cr in revenues in FY25

DHAKA, Sept 8, 2025 (BSS) – The Ministry of Shipping has earned Tk 6,576 crore in revenue from various sources during the fiscal year 2024-25.

Shipping Adviser Brig Gen (retd) Dr M Sakhawat Hossain today disclosed the information at a press conference held at the conference room of the Ministry of Shipping at the Secretariat here.

He said that the ministry's progress in the past 15 years was only 9 percent, but due to different initiatives of the current government, the ministry has achieved about 90 percent success.

He thanked the officials concerned who worked hard to bring about this success of the ministry.

The adviser said the previous government had taken up many useless projects, some of which have been cancelled.

“More than a thousand new jobs have been created under this ministry in various organizations including Chattogram, Mongla and Payra ports,” he added.

He said the current government has consistently taken effective steps to ensure sustainable development of the shipping sector.

Senior Secretary of the ministry Mohammad Yousuf, Additional Secretary Delwara Begum, and senior officials of the ministry were present on the occasion.
