Murshid calls for raising awareness on cyber bullying, social harassment

DHAKA, Sept 10, 2025 (BSS) - Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Adviser Sharmeen Soneya Murshid today stressed the need for public awareness on cyber bullying, social harassment, fake news, mental health challenges and suicide prevention among youth.

"Everyone must remain conscious of the risks posed by cyber bullying, social harassment, fake news, mental health issues and suicide among young people," she said while speaking as the chief guest at a roundtable discussion titled "Youth Mental Health & Suicide Prevention", held at the Department of Social Services at Agargaon in the capital.

The discussion was jointly organized by the Nirapad Alliance, the Ministry of Social Welfare and YOUCAN, with support from the Ministry of Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs.

Director General of the Department of Social Services Md Saidur Rahman delivered the welcome speech.

Former Social Welfare Secretary Dr Md Mohiuddin, Social Welfare Secretary Mohammad Abu Yusuf, Joint Secretary Nazmul Hasan, ambassadors from different embassies, Nirapad Alliance Director Masud Mohammad and representatives from various NGOs also attended the event.
