DINAJPUR, Sept 11, 2025 (BSS) – The authorities of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU), Dinajpur, have named 79 Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) members for their alleged involvement in attacking agitating general students near the university area during July Uprising.

Md. Khademul Islam, Director of HSTU’s Public Relations Department, confirmed this in the afternoon.

He told BSS that the list, signed by the university's Registrar, Professor Dr. Abu Hasan, was published following the decision of the HSTU Regents Board held on September 9.

On July 16, 2024, a clash, chase, and counter-chase took place between BCL activists of HSTU and demonstrators who were protesting against the quota system in jobs.

Since the fall of the Awami League government on August 5 last year, university students under different political organizations, along with general students, have been demanding exemplary punishment for the attackers involved in the incident.

The HSTU administration has named 79 people involved in the attack on general students in two categories.

Forty-one students in category "A" have been accused of armed attacks on general students, while 38 students in category "B" have been accused of opposing students.
