DHAKA, Sept 11, 2025 (BSS)- The Election Commission (EC) has planned for series of dialogue with the stakeholders of next national election from last week of this month.

“The dialogue will be held in the last week of this month as part of its roadmap for the 13th National Parliamentary Election,” said an EC official.

According to EC officials, invitations will be sent to participants seven to ten days prior to the beginning of the dialogue. The initial sessions will involve representatives from civil society, women’s organizations, and the media.

The stakeholders will include registered political parties, university academics, civil society leaders, women representatives, editors and journalists, election observers, election experts, and war-wounded freedom fighters. The Commission plans to complete the entire series of dialogues within one or one and a half months.

Asked about the schedule, Election Commissioner Anwarul Islam Sarkar confirmed that the EC intends to begin discussions with stakeholders in the last week of September, as specified in the roadmap.

Currently, there are 51 registered political parties with the EC, although the registration of the Bangladesh Awami League has been temporarily suspended.

Meanwhile, the EC is also working to finalize the registration of new political parties within this month. The Commission aims to complete the registration process for new parties by September 30.

Senior Secretary of the EC Secretariat Akhtar Ahmed said, documents collected during field-level investigations of 22 shortlisted political parties have already reached the Secretariat. These findings will be compiled into a broadsheet and submitted to the Commission for a final decision.

He also mentioned that amendments to the rules regarding party symbols are still awaiting approval from the relevant division of the Ministry of Law.

"Completing the registration process within the stipulated timeframe is crucial to avoid any delay in implementing the election roadmap," he added.

A total of 143 political parties submitted applications for new registration ahead of the 13th parliamentary elections. After initial scrutiny, 121 applications were rejected, and 22 parties proceeded to field-level verification. The rejected parties have been formally notified by the EC.
