DHAKA, Sept 12, 2025 (BSS) – A total of 158,831 cases have been disposed of across the country through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) under the National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO).

The cases were settled through the ADR system from 2009 to July 2025, according to information available on the organization’s website.

The service started initially at the district level in 2009 and was later extended to the Supreme Court and the Dhaka and Chattogram divisional headquarters, the sources said, adding that it was further extended to all prisons across the country.

ADR is a system of settling cases outside the court in which both parties benefit.
According to the NLASO, a total of 177,254 cases were submitted for arbitration, and the number of beneficiaries in the cases settled through ADR is 306,023.

A total of 1,261,650 people received free legal services across the country from 2009 to April 2025, it said.

The National Legal Aid Services Organization has been providing free legal assistance to poor and marginalized people across the country. It has been providing the services under the direct supervision of the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
