SI returns Tk 50,000 to owner

DHAKA, Sept 12, 2025 (BSS) – A Sub-Inspector (SI) of Shahjahanpur Police Station has returned Tk. 50,410, found in the city, to its original owner.

According to a DMP media release issued here today, on-duty SI of Shahjahanpur Police Station Ashiqur Rahman saw a bundle of money lying on the pavement in front of Noor Sanitary shop at Malibagh under Shahjahanpur Police Station at about 5:15 pm yesterday.

He recovered the money with the help of pedestrians, which amounted to Tk. 50,410 after counting, the release said.

It added that the SI also informed some people about the money and waited for its original owner.

Later, a man named Kausar Ahmed, 37, came to the police station and said that he had withdrawn the money from a bank and lost it on his way to work.

Finally, SI Ashiq returned the money to Kausar Ahmed after cross-examinations, the release added.
