JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Sept 12, 2025 (BSS) – Counting of ballots in the Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) elections is progressing without interruption and is expected to conclude tonight.

The polls were held peacefully yesterday from 9 am to 5 pm across 21 residential halls. The vote counting is being conducted manually, the JUCSU Election Commission said in a press release signed by its Member Secretary Prof Dr A K M Rashidul Alam.

Results of 20 hall unions have already been completed, while counting in remaining hall is still underway, the release added.

Simultaneously, counting of the JUCSU central body is in progress and will be followed by the formal announcement of results tonight.

Meanwhile, Assistant Professor of Fine Arts and polling officer Jannatul Ferdous collapsed this morning at the Election Commission office while on duty. She was rushed to hospital where doctors declared her dead.

Her namaz-e-janaza and funeral rituals were held later in the day, briefly slowing the pace of counting.

In this regard, Prof Rashidul Alam urged all concerned not to be misled by rumours and to extend full cooperation until the counting process is concluded.
