Meritorious students should become worthy citizens: Monir Haidar

GAIBANDHA, Sept 13, 2025 (BSS) - Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser Monir Haidar said meritorious students should strive to become worthy citizens of the country to help lead the nation towards its desired development goals by utilizing their talents effectively.

"Special care and inspiration should be extended to meritorious students so they can grow up properly and become good human beings by refraining from social ills," he added.

He made the remarks while addressing a reception ceremony organized in honour of students who secured GPA-5 in the SSC examinations from various schools under Sundarganj upazila.

The event was held on Friday afternoon at the upazila parishad auditorium, organized by Masiar Rahman Foundation, a local social organization based in Dhupni village of the upazila.

Speaking as the chief guest, Monir urged students to remain focused on their studies and attain quality education to succeed in life.

Describing brilliant students as the "assets of the nation," he called upon them to nurture patriotic values and contribute meaningfully to nation-building in their future careers.

Presided over by Zillur Rahman, president of the foundation, the function was also addressed by ADC-General AKM Hedayetul Islam, UNO Raaz Kumar Biswas, Additional Police Super Shariful Islam, Upazila Academic Supervisor Belal Hossain, Upazila Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Majedur Rahman, and Convener of Upazila BNP Babul Ahmed.

Later, the guests distributed crests and cash prizes among 375 meritorious students of the upazila.
