Officials of French, UK missions meet ATU chief

DHAKA, Sept 13, 2025 (BSS)- Security and counter terrorism officials of France and UK missions in Dhaka met the Chief of Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU)  Rezaul Karim  at ATU Headquarters on Thursday. 

In the separate meetings they agreed to continue their cooperation with ATU for exchanging experience and information to combat terrorism, a press release of ATU today said. 

Deputy Homeland Security Attaché of the French Embassy Lieutenant Colonel Christel Fontaine and Sakina Alam, Deputy Head of UK’s Counter Terrorism Department of Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office led their respective sides, 

During the the French officials was briefed on overall activities of the ATU. The French delegation praised the ATU's work strategy in combating terrorism. 
 
The delegation was informed about the coordination with various intelligence agencies and high-level authorities to conduct counter-terrorism activities, obtaining higher training from home and abroad, maintaining regularity in training programs, using Open Source Intelligence (OSI) tools to monitor internet forums, social media and public databases, and increasing manpower. 
 
In the meeting, both sides agreed to continue mutual cooperation and exchange of information to fight against terrorism.

In the meeting with the UK delegation, the ATU Chief apprised them of Bangladesh government's 'zero tolerance' policy against terrorism. 
 
The meeting discussed the issue of enhancing mutual cooperation in combating terrorism. They discussed in details various activities of the ATU and the overall position of Bangladesh in combating terrorism.
 
Both sides agreed to continue mutual cooperation and exchange of intelligence information, along with exchanging their experiences and strategies with each other. 
 
Senior officials of the ATU were present.
