DHAKA, Sept 13, 2025 (BSS) - Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki has expressed deep shock at the death of legendary folk singer Farida Parveen. 

In a condolence message, he said the country's music arena has incurred an irreparable loss at her death.

Farooki said Farida Parveen recorded and promoted Bengali songs, including Lalon geeti, with care. 

Lalon's songs in her voice not only conveyed melodious emotions, but also upheld the underlying philosophy and sense of life of "our culture" to a new level, the adviser said, adding her music practice has inspired generations after generations.

He said Farida Parveen's contribution to music will be remembered forever. "We remember her with deep respect."

Farooki prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed his condolence to her bereaved family members.

Noted singer Farida Parveen died while undergoing treatment at 10:15 pm tonight. 

She was 71.
