THAKURGAON, Sept 14, 2025 (BSS) - Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhter today expressed deep shock at the death of eminent folk singer Farida Parveen.

In a condolence message, the Adviser prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family members.

She performed various types of songs, including Nazrul Sangeet and patriotic songs, the Adviser said, adding that however, Farida Parveen gained the most recognition and popularity through her renditions of Lalon Sai's songs.

Her contribution to promoting Bengali folk music-especially Lalon Sangeet-both at home and abroad is immense, she said.

Her deep and emotional voice has made Lalon's songs more powerful and helped people around the world appreciate Bengali culture, the Adviser said.

Farida Parveen breathed her last at a city hospital on Saturday night at the age of 71.
