JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Sept 21, 2025 (BSS) - The academic journey of the 54th batch (2024-25 academic session) of Jahangirnagar University (JU) commenced today as newly admitted first-year students joined their respective orientation sessions and attended their first classes.

Earlier in the morning, the freshers moved into their allotted seats in the residential halls and later joined the orientation programmes organized by their respective departments.

In a congratulatory message, JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan welcomed the new students, extending greetings and best wishes for their future endeavors at the university.

The VC said the university administration is delighted to have ensured residential seats for all freshers this year.

He noted that the long-standing practice of “ganoroom” (overcrowded shared rooms) was completely eradicated since the last academic year through the concerted efforts of students, teachers, hall administrations, and concerned authorities.

Reiterating his administration’s firm commitment to maintaining a congenial academic atmosphere, Prof Ahsan said, “The university is sincerely working to enhance facilities both in residential halls and academic buildings.”

He expressed hope that the campus will remain a secure and harmonious abode for every student, regardless of political ideology, religion, or background.

Calling upon all freshers and seniors alike, the VC urged students to remain committed to academic pursuits while working together in the interest of the university.
