3 organizations provide Tk over 88.66 crore to BLWF

DAHKA, Sept 29, 2025 (BSS)- Three organizations-Grameenphone Ltd, British-American Tobacco (BAT)and Edotco Bangladesh Company Ltd- have collectively provided Taka 88 crores 66 lac 34,359 to the Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation(BLWF)fund.

The companies provided the fund at a rate of 0.5 percent of their annual profit following the Bangladesh Labour Act-2006 (Amended 2018), a PID handout said here today.

The Cheques of the money were handed over to the adviser to the Ministry of Labour and Employment Brigadier General (Rtd) Dr. M Sakhawat Hussain at his Bangladesh secretariat office here.

Among the given funds, Grameenphone Ltd provided Taka 68 crores 80 lac 61,500, British-American Tobacco gave Taka 15 crore 98 lac 30,757 and Edotco Bangladesh Company Ltd. gave Taka three crore nine lac 42,086, the handout said.

The provided money will be credited to the BLWF and will be spent for socio-economic development of the labours of the country.

Secretary to the Ministry of Labour and Employment Dr. Md. Sanwar Jahan Bhuiyan, Director General of Bangladesh Workers' Welfare Foundation Md Munir Hossain Khan, and representatives of Grameenphone Ltd, BAT Bangladesh and Edoco Bangladesh Company Ltd were present at the cheque handover ceremony.
