DHAKA, Sept 29, 2025 (BSS) – The Professor Dr Habiba Khatun Trust Fund Scholarship has been awarded to three meritorious students who achieved the highest CGPA in Groups A, B, and C in the postgraduate examinations of the Department of Islamic History and Culture at Dhaka University.

DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan handed over the scholarship cheques to the students as the chief guest at a function held at the VC's conference room today.

The function, chaired by Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr Mamun Ahmed, was attended by Acting Dean of the Faculty of Arts Professor Dr ABM Siddiqur Rahman Nizami, Acting Chairman of the Department of Islamic History and Culture Professor Dr AKM Golam Rabbani, Trust Fund donor Professor Dr Habiba Khatun, the donor's daughter Dr Nahid Jamal, a teacher at the University of Texas Medical School in the United States, as well as departmental teachers and officials.

The scholarship recipients are Md Towhidul Islam (Group A), Ishita Khatun (Group B), and Safa Ahmad (Group C).

Each recipient received a one-time grant of Taka 11,200.

It is mentionable that Dr Habiba Khatun, a retired professor of the Department of Islamic History and Culture, established this trust fund on December 23, 2015, with Taka 5 lakh. From the income of this fund, the scholarship is awarded each year to three meritorious students who achieve the highest CGPA in the three groups of the postgraduate examinations of the Department of Islamic History and Culture.
