DHAKA, Sept 30, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami today announced fresh programmes to press home its 5-point demand, including holding the next national election in February on the basis of the July National Charter.

Party Secretary General and former lawmaker Professor Mia Golam Parwar made the announcement at a press conference held at the capital's Moghbazar Al-Falah Auditorium this afternoon.

The event was conducted by Assistant Secretary General and Chief of the Central Publicity and Media Department Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair.

Assistant Secretary General Dr AHM Hamidur Rahman Azad, Maulana Abdul Halim, Central Executive Council Member Mubarak Hossain, Dhaka Metropolitan South Amir Nurul Islam Bulbul and Dhaka Metropolitan North Nayeb-e-Amir Abdur Rahman Musa were also present.

Golam Parwar said Jamaat has placed a 5-point demand aimed at ensuring people's right to vote and building a just, accountable and democratic state.

The demands include: holding the national election in February in line with the July Charter; introducing a Proportional Representation (PR) system; taking effective steps to curb the influence of black money, muscle power and irregularities in polls; ensuring the formation of a competent parliament and creation of skilled lawmakers and ensuring proper evaluation of each vote.

He claimed that people from all walks of life have already expressed support for the demands.

To build public opinion, Jamaat announced new programmes that include mass communication, opinion-exchange meetings, roundtable discussions and seminars across the country from October 1 to 9.

Mass processions will be staged in all divisional cities, including the capital, on October 10, while memorandums will be submitted to Deputy Commissioners (DCs) across the country on October 12.

The Jamaat Secretary General urged countrymen to participate in the programmes to make them a success.
