DMP Commissioner inspects Banani, Bashundhara residential puja mandaps

DHAKA, Oct 1, 2025 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali today inspected the overall security arrangements of Banani and Bashundhara residential puja mandaps in the capital marking the Sharidya Durga Puja.

"Puja is being celebrated in a festive atmosphere at a total of 254 puja mandaps in Dhaka city," he said after the visit, adding that no untoward incident has been reported so far.

"There is no security risk during this year's puja," he noted, assuring that police will take strict legal action against anyone attempting to disrupt security.

He further said, DMP has already taken measures so that devotees can immerse the idols in a festive atmosphere on the day of immersion tomorrow.

The commissioner expressed hope that the Durga Puja ceremonies will end beautifully with the joint efforts of everyone and sought cooperation of all concerned.

Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md. Nazrul Islam and senior officials of DMP were present during the inspection.
