DHAKA, Oct 2, 2025 (BSS) – Emphasising that research is one of the main means of acquiring, enriching, and disseminating knowledge, Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid Hossain today said research-based books are the beacons of the era.

“Knowledge is one of the driving forces of human civilization. Research is one of the main means of acquiring, enriching and disseminating this knowledge while research-based books are the beacons of the era,” he said.

The adviser said this while addressing the cover unveiling ceremony of a book titled “Modern Thoughts and Doctrines” held on the premises of the ongoing Islamic Book Fair at the east gate of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the city this evening.

Professor of Chattogram University (CU) Islamic Studies Department Dr Ahmad Ali wrote the book.

Dr Khalid said that through writing research-based books, authors present the results of their inquiries, personal insights, and ideas, which open new horizons of knowledge and enriches the reservoir of wisdom.

“Therefore, any research-based book is not just books, it’s the mirror of that era and the beacons of the future,” he said.

The adviser further noted that the main purpose of research is to discover the unknown and expand the boundaries of existing knowledge.

Noting that research-based works help to transmit the new knowledge among the readers, Dr Khalid said, “As a result, the new generation can develop their thinking capacity and find solutions to various complex problems”.

First Security Islami Bank Chairman Mohammad Abdul Mannan presided over the event while Islamic University (IU) Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah and Islamic Foundation Director General Abdus Salam Khan spoke as special guests.

The author of the book “Modern Thoughts and Doctrines”, Professor Dr Ahmad Ali also spoke at the ceremony.

The two-volume book has been published by the renowned publishing house Bangladesh Islamic Law Research and Legal Aid Center. The book analyzes various modern thoughts and doctrines from an Islamic perspective.
