DHAKA, Oct 3, 2025 (BSS)- Bijoya procession and idol immersion ceremonies marking the end of the Sharadiya Durga Puja festivities were held peacefully in the city under the strict security arrangements of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

On the occasion of Bijoya Dashami, the farewell day of Goddess Durga, the capital city Dhaka and other parts of the country echoed with sacred hymns and vibrant celebrations.

According to a press release signed by Muhammad Talebur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division, the entire event was held in a safe and orderly manner.

Before the immersion, thousands of Hindu devotees joined the Bijoya procession organized by the Metropolitan Puja Celebration Committee.

After the traditional Sindur Khela (vermillion play) in the morning, the procession began from Dhakeshwari National Temple and ended at Wiseghat, where the idols were immersed.

Alongside standard security arrangements, DMP also deployed traffic police to manage the large crowds and ensure smooth movement.

In addition, three control rooms were set up at Dhakeshwari Temple, Palashi intersection, and Bahadur Shah Park. Three watch towers were installed at Palashi intersection, Ray Shaheb Bazar, and Wiseghat for surveillance.
Dog squads, bomb disposal units, and crime scene teams remained standby throughout the day.

This year, a total of 254 Puja mandaps (worship pavilions) were set up across Dhaka city for the Sharadiya Durga Puja celebrations.
