Info ministry, PID offices declared single-use plastic-free

DHAKA, Oct 5, 2025 (BSS) - The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Press Information Department (PID) offices have been declared single-use plastic (SUP) free in line with the declaration of making Bangladesh Secretariat as SUP free.

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has requested the use of the following proposed alternative products instead of single-use plastic items to prevent environment pollution, said an official handout.

The proposals are using paper files and folders instead of plastic files and folders, using cotton/jute fabric bags instead of plastic bags, using glass bottles and glass instead of plastic water bottles, using cotton fabric, jute fabric or biodegradable banners instead of plastic banners, avoiding plastic laminates in invitation cards, visiting cards and various types of brochures, ensuring that food packets provided in various meetings or seminars are made of paper and eco-friendly, avoiding all types of products including single-use plastic plates, glasses, cups, straws, cutlery, using pencils or paper pens instead of plastic pens, avoiding the use of laminated packaging and plastic in all types of publications including annual reports and stopping the use of plastic in flower bouquets.

All officers and employees of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and PID have been instructed to use the recommended alternative products instead of single-use plastic items.
This announcement has been made as per the instructions of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
