DHAKA, Oct 5, 2025 (BSS) - The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has requested everyone to get tested for dengue as soon as suffering from fever.

DGHS Director (Hospitals and Clinics) Dr. Moinul Ahsan made this request through a press release today.

He said all patients with fever are requested to get tested for dengue at the nearest hospital as soon as fever occurs and to consult physicians immediately if dengue disease is detected.

Moinul Ahsan said the death of nine people due to dengue disease in a single day is very sad. The review shows that 7 out of the 9 people died on the day of admission to the hospital, he said.

Basically, due to the delay in coming to the hospital, the dengue disease had become complicated as physicians don’t get enough time to provide them with treatment.

He said one of the remaining 2 patients also died the day after admission.

Due to late arrival at the hospital or doctor, it is becoming difficult to treat complex patients, he said.

Stating that the DGHS is very alert and proactive regarding dengue treatment, he said that all hospitals have sufficient dengue test kits, saline and medicines in stock.

However, to reduce deaths, it is necessary to simultaneously identify dengue quickly, provide treatment according to guidelines and implement mosquito control measures, he added.

He said the DGHS is seeking cooperation from all concerned quarters in this regard.
