DUCSU holds 'Puthi Path' on Munshi Abdul Karim's birth anniversary

DHAKA, Oct 12, 2025 (BSS) - The Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) organized a delightful 'Manuscript Reading (Puthi Path)' session marking the 154th birth anniversary of Munshi Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad, a noted researcher of Bengali manuscripts and literature, at the DUCSU cafeteria recently.

At the beginning of the programme on Saturday evening, prominent readers Bin Bani Amin Munna and Umama Jahan Mim read selected manuscripts.

Later, Haji Muhammad Muhsin Hall Sangsad's Social Service Secretary Md Saifullah read from a book written on the July Uprising.

Child artists Ahnaf Adil Shafi and Tasnim Farhan Mahir presented a puthi on the biography of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM).

The main puthi reader of the event was singer, music director and teacher Shri Parimal Kumar Majumdar.

Ishrat Jahan Emu, a wounded fighter of the July Revolution, delivered the opening speech, while DUCSU Literary and Cultural Secretary Musaddiq Ali Ibn Muhammad gave the welcome address.

DUCSU General Secretary (GS) SM Farhad attended as the chief guest, and Dhaka University Journalists' Association (DUJA) General Secretary Mahdi Hasan was present as special guest.

Speaking on the occasion, SM Farhad said the main goal of the event was to revive the tradition of puthi reading and manuscript interpretation.
"DUCSU will continue to take such initiatives to preserve and promote the ancient traditions and cultural heritage of the Bengali people," he added.

The event concluded with the presentation of awards and cultural performances by the participating puthi readers.
