RANGPUR, Nov 17, 2025 (BSS) - In immediate reaction after the verdict against
Sheikh Hasina was announced today, the parents of martyr Abu Sayeed demanded
her immediate hanging for ordering the killing of their son and many other
martyrs of the July Uprising.

"Sheikh Hasina ordered the killing of my son, I want her hanged. She had been
committing disappearances and murders for 15 years. So I want her hanged on
this Bengali soil," said Md Mokbul Hossain, father of martyr Abu Sayeed.

Martyr Abu Sayeed's mother Most Monwara Begum said, "The void created by
losing my beloved son Abu Sayeed can never be filled. So that no other
mother's heart becomes empty like mine, the verdict must be implemented
quickly."

"Those who gave the order, those who shot, should all be hanged. I know the
pain of losing a son. Many mothers, sisters, brothers like me lost their
children and husbands. So, exemplary punishment must be ensured for all those
involved in the crimes," she said.

Abu Sayeed's parents made these comments while talking to local reporters at
their home in village Babanpur under Pirganj upazila of Rangpur on Monday
afternoon when Sheikh Hasina's verdict was announced at the International
Crimes Tribunal (ICT).

Immediately after the verdict was announced, an unprecedented atmosphere of
joy was created and joyous rallies held in Babanpur village, as well as in
other places in Rangpur district, and across the country, and sweets were
distributed among people.

Abu Sayeed's father Mokbul Hossain and mother Most Monwara Begum said it
should not end with just announcing the verdict.

The wailing couple demanded that their son's killer Sheikh Hasina must be
brought back to the country and the verdict be implemented quickly.

Expressing their satisfaction over Sheikh Hasina's death sentence, martyr Abu
Sayeed's family distributed sweets at their house in Babanpur village.

Sweets were also distributed and July Warriors brought out joyous processions
in various places, including Begum Rokeya University, Carmichael College and
dozens of other places in Rangpur city and across the district.

The time of the verdict announcement of three people, including Sheikh
Hasina, was known to everyone. So there has been a festive crowd at Abu
Sayeed's house in Babanpur village since morning today.

As time went on, the crowd continued to grow.

When the verdict was announced at the ICT in the afternoon, sweets were
distributed in village Babanpur, like in the rest of the country.

Martyr Abu Sayeed's brothers Ramzan Ali and Abu Hossain distributed sweets to
the local people, including journalists, who had already been present there.
Everyone was enjoying and smiling during the distribution of sweets.

In their immediate reactions after the verdict was announced, Martyr Abu
Sayeed's elder brothers Md Ramzan Ali and Md Abu Hossain also expressed
satisfaction on behalf of their family.

Ramzan Ali said, "We are happy with the verdict. However, we urge the interim
government to implement the verdict quickly.

He said that the fascist Awami League regime had ruled the country by killing
and enforced disappearance for more than one and a half decade.

Sheikh Hasina gave the order to shoot students during the anti-discrimination
student movement.

"Because of that order, the police shot and killed my brother Abu Sayeed.
Thousands of students are still in hospital beds injured by police firing.

"Our expectation is not just to have the ICT give the death sentence. Convict
Sheikh Hasina must be brought back to the country and executed by hanging.
Then maybe the families of martyrs like us will get at least a little peace,"
he said.

Abu Sayeed's other brother, Abu Hossain, said it will not be enough to just
try Sheikh Hasina.

"The government must bring those in the Awami League's fascist regime who
were involved in committing all these crimes against humanity to justice and
try them. So that fascism never rises in the country again," he said.
