‘Malaysia emerges as new destination for Bangladeshi medical tourists’

CHATTOGRAM, Nov 17, 2025 (BSS) – The Malaysian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Mohd Shuhada Bin Osman, said that a considerable number of medical tourists from Bangladesh are traveling to various countries.

He suggested that Malaysia’s advanced and modern healthcare services could become a new destination for Bangladeshi medical tourists.

The Malaysian High Commissioner made these remarks during a meeting with business leaders from the Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industry this afternoon.

The meeting took place at the Conference Hall of the World Trade Center in Agrabad, chaired by Chamber Administrator and Additional Divisional Commissioner Mohammad Nurullah Noori.

High Commissioner Mohd Shuhada Bin Osman highlighted the significance of the five agreements signed during Dr. Muhammad Yunus's visit to Malaysia last August, emphasizing their role in enhancing bilateral relations.

The High Commissioner also highlighted the potential for Bangladesh to earn foreign exchange by producing and processing halal products with halal certification.

He also mentioned the opportunities for investment in the telecommunications, security, healthcare, manufacturing, and energy sectors in Chattogram due to its strategic location.

Chamber Administrator Nurullah Noori emphasized the friendly relations between Bangladesh and Malaysia as Muslim-majority countries.

Other speakers highlighted the importance of regular trade delegation visits to strengthen the relationship between businessmen from both countries.

Former President of Chattogram Chamber and Honorary Consul of Thailand, Amir Humayun Mahmud Chowdhury; Former Senior Vice President M. A. Salam; Honorary Consul of Malaysia Mohammad Akhter Parvez; and Former Director of the Chamber Zahirul Islam Chowdhury Alamgir shared their insights.
