Pakistan envoy meets Information Adviser

DHAKA, Nov 18, 2025 (BSS) - Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider today called on Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Mahfuj Alam at the latter’s office at the Secretariat.

During the meeting, the Information and Broadcasting Advisor said that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has already been signed between the news agencies of Bangladesh and Pakistan. 

The Adviser expressed interest in strengthening cooperative relations for the development of the media of the two countries. 

The High Commissioner of Pakistan also expressed interest in this matter. 

The Information and Broadcasting Adviser said that the work of digitalization of the television broadcasting system is underway in Bangladesh.

Regarding the upcoming parliament elections in Bangladesh, the Pakistani High Commissioner said that the Pakistan government will respect the party, elected by the Bangladeshis, in the election.

During the meeting, the Information and Broadcasting Adviser said that many researchers in Bangladesh want to conduct research on the socio-economic events of the then East Pakistan from 1947 to 1971. 

For the research, he said, it is necessary to collect relevant documents (evidence) stored in the archives of Pakistan. 

He called on the Pakistani High Commissioner to provide necessary cooperation in this regard. 

During the meeting, various socio-economic issues of the two countries were discussed. 

Press Counselor of the Pakistan High Commission Fasih Ullah was present at the meeting.
