DHAKA, Nov 18, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Bank (BB) has announced that it will stop several direct counter services for the general public at its Motijheel Office following the close of business on November 20, 2025.

To this end, the central bank issued a circular saying that the sale of savings certificates and prize bonds, the exchange of torn or mutilated notes and all related services pertaining to e-challans will remain stopped in its Motijheel office.

The central bank cited security concerns as a major factor in the decision, noting that the Motijheel Office is classified as a KPI-listed institution.

Furthermore, the circular highlighted that globally, central banks in other countries generally do not provide these types of direct counter services to the public.

The general public has been requested to avail themselves of the aforementioned services through scheduled commercial banks.

To ensure a seamless transition and continuous service delivery, Bangladesh Bank confirmed that it will increase supervision of commercial banks. This oversight is intended to ensure that commercial banks can provide these services to the public without interruption.
