DHAKA, Nov 19, 2025 (BSS) - High Commissioner Pranay Verma today underscored the strategic importance of the pharmaceutical sector in the Bangladesh-India economic partnership, stressing India's role as a trusted partner in APIs, process technologies and pharmaceutical machinery to support accessible healthcare across the region.

He made the remark as the High Commission of India in Dhaka hosted "PharmaConnect", a networking and knowledge-sharing programme bringing together senior leaders of leading Bangladeshi pharmaceutical companies ahead of their participation in CPHI-PMEC India 2025, one of the world's largest pharmaceutical exhibitions, said a press release, issued by the Indian High Commission here.

The event highlighted complementarities between India's globally competitive pharmaceutical industry and Bangladesh's expanding manufacturing capacity, showcasing opportunities to strengthen supply chains, access new technologies and deepen commercial linkages.

Addressing the gathering, Verma emphasised that greater collaboration in pharmaceuticals would not only boost industrial growth but also contribute to affordable and accessible healthcare for millions.

He expressed confidence that "PharmaConnect" would create new business linkages and enhance bilateral engagement in an innovation-driven framework.

President of the Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries (BAPI) Abdul Muktadir also spoke at the event, noting Bangladesh's growing global footprint in pharmaceuticals and stressing the potential for cooperation with India in technology transfer, R&D partnerships and supply-chain integration.

Industry representatives voiced strong optimism that such initiatives would strengthen cross-border collaboration, improve supply-chain resilience and unlock new avenues for trade and investment.

The programme formed part of the High Commission's wider efforts to deepen India-Bangladesh economic cooperation in the health and pharmaceutical sectors.

Many Bangladeshi companies will be participating in CPHI-PMEC India 2025, scheduled from 25th to 27th November, which is recognized as one of the largest industry platforms connecting global manufacturers, innovators, investors, and policymakers.
