DHAKA, Nov 20, 2025 (BSS) - Chief Adviser Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus expected that the members of the armed forces would continue to work together with the people in protecting the independence and sovereignty of the country.

“I hope, the members of the armed forces will continue to work together with the people,” the Chief Adviser said in a message on the eve of the ‘Armed Forces Day (AFD) 2025’ to be celebrated tomorrow.

He extended greetings and congratulations to all the members of the Army, Navy and Air Force marking the day.

Wishing the overall success of AFD’s all programmes, he said, “I pay my deepest respect to all the brave martyrs including the members of the Armed Forces who made their supreme sacrifices in the sake of the freedom struggle of Bangladesh.

In the country’s Great Liberation War, the CA said the Armed Forces members were the first to come forward in building resistance war and leading the long time struggle subsequently.

The fearless members of the Army, Navy and Air Force jointly launched a counterattack against the occupation forces on November 21 and the members of the Liberation Army, various paramilitary forces and the country’s patriotic people took part in a coordinated attack then, Prof Yunus mentioned.

“We achieved final victory on December 16 by defeating the occupation forces. The Armed Forces Day is celebrated every year on November 21, marking our progress and victory in the Great Liberation War,” he added.

The Chief Adviser thanked the members of the armed forces for their support to the civil administration during all activities, including the students-workers-people mass-uprisings, combating various natural disasters, providing security in industrial factories, maintaining the law and order situation and recovering of arms and ammunitions.

Lauding the role of the armed forces members for their frantic efforts by standing beside the people in the last 15 months, the CA said it was possible to maintain communal harmony along with improving the overall situation in the country with the help of the members of the armed forces.

The Chief Adviser wished AFD’s all programmes a success.
