BMU takes emergency measures to treat quake-injured

DHAKA, Nov 21, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) authorities have taken emergency measures to ensure prompt treatment for those injured in today's earthquake.

BMU has reserved four beds at its general emergency unit for the immediate treatment of quake victims.

To ensure coordinated and efficient medical care, necessary instructions have been issued to the chairmen of the Departments of Neurosurgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Anaesthesia, Analgesia and Intensive Care Medicine.

The emergency preparations were taken on the urgent directive of BMU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md Shahinul Alam.

BMU's newly appointed Director (Hospital), Brigadier General Irtika Rahman, confirmed the information.

He further said that Dr Amit and Dr Nusrat Sharmin will be on duty during the evening shift at the general emergency department.
