PANCHAGARH, Nov 21, 2025 (BSS) – Sarjis Alam, the Chief Organizer for the Northern Region of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) has said India's opinion regarding Bangladesh has little significance until New Delhi agrees to return Sheikh Hasina, whom he refers as a mass murderer and the instructor of genocide, currently sentenced to death.

“The government fulfilled a critical commitment by completing the judicial process and announcing the verdict against Sheikh Hasina,” he said.

Sarjis Alam made the remarks to journalists yesterday in Atwari, Panchagarh following inauguration ceremony of the traditional Aloakhowa Rash Mela.

The NCP leader noted that visible progress has been occurred concerning the July Charter, the referendum and the note of dissent.

Regarding the capital punishment of Sheikh Hasina, Sarjis Alam said, Hasina committed innumerable crimes during her tenure, including disappearances, murders, and extrajudicial killings.

He stressed that the maximum penalty was delivered under Bangladeshi law, although he observed that the sentence as very negligible compared to the crimes she committed.
