Bhutanese PM inquired about Khaleda Zia's health: Fakhrul

DHAKA, Nov 23, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, who is on a two-day state visit to Bangladesh, asked about the health condition of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

Speaking to reporters after a courtesy meeting with the Bhutanese premier at the Hotel InterContinental in the city, Fakhrul said discussions also covered various issues of mutual interest, including trade, commerce and energy cooperation between the two countries.

He added the Bhutanese Prime Minister sent a bouquet of flowers for Begum Khaleda Zia as a gesture of goodwill.

Fakhrul further said that Bhutan hopes Bangladesh will hold a fair and impartial election, noting that "Bhutan will work with whichever government assumes power."

BNP Standing Committee Member Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan and Organizing Secretary Shama Obaid were also present at the meeting.
