
DHAKA, Nov 25, 2025 (BSS)- Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Niaz Ahmad Khan has stressed that the medical profession must be considered as a service and the quality of MBBS and BDS education must be developed to ensure proper health service.
“Medical education and healthcare are integral parts of human life and essential for sustaining human existence. We must work collectively to enhance the quality of this service and education,” he said.
He made the remarks today while speaking as the chief guest at a views-exchange meeting titled “Enhancing the Quality of MBBS and BDS Education”, said a DU press release.
Chairpersons and principals of governing bodies of DU-affiliated medical colleges for the MBBS November 2025 session joined the views-exchange meeting held at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban.
DU Medicine Faculty dean Prof. Dr. Md Mostaq Ahmad presided over the meeting.
DU Pro-VC (Administration) Prof. Sayema Haque Bidisha, Pro-VC (Academic) Prof. Mamun Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Postgraduate Medical Sciences and Research Prof. Dr. Md Kamrul Alam, DU acting Registrar Munshi Shams Uddin Ahmad, Acting Inspector of the Colleges A.K.M. Amzad Hossain and Acting Controller of Examinations Dr Himadri Shekhar Chakraborty were present at the meeting.
Emphasizing the need for modernization in medical education, the DU VC said, “Curriculum development, transparent and accountable institutional management, and an effective teaching environment are essential.”
He also called for stronger communication among relevant institutions and regular dialogue with policymakers to overcome existing challenges in advanced medical education in the country.
