DHAKA, Dec 1, 2025 (BSS) - A fire that broke out this afternoon in two multi-storey buildings in Rahmatganj’s Dalpatti area of Chawkbazar was brought under control after more than an hour of frantic efforts by firefighters.

Seven fire engines from Lalbagh, Siddiqbazar, and Palashi stations responded to the scene and managed to control the blaze at around 6:00 pm today, Deputy Director of Dhaka Division Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) Md Sleh Uddin told a news briefing at the site.

According to FSCD officials, the fire originated at 4:42 pm on the 3rd floor of a three-storey building and spread to an adjacent two-storey building due to the presence of flammable items.

“No casualties have been reported so far, and the cause of the fire is yet to be determined”, Sleh Uddin said.

He said firefighters faced difficulties reaching the scene as the fire-fighting vehicles were unable to move the narrow roads leading to the area.

The three-storey building housed a godown of pulses and a mill on the ground floor, a residence for workers on the second floor, and a luggage fittings factory on the third floor.

The adjacent two-storey building contained a workshop on the ground floor and an office on the second floor.
