Prosecution pleads for indicting 4 accused in Rampura mass killing case

DHAKA, Dec 04, 2025 (BSS) - The prosecution at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 today pleaded for framing charges against four accused in a crimes against humanity case over the killing of 28 people during the July Mass Uprising.

Chief Prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam took part in the hearing. At the end of today's proceedings, the three-member tribunal, headed by Justice Golam Mortuza Mozumder, adjourned the hearing till December 14.

The accused are former BGB officials Mohammad Redwanul Islam and Md Rafat Bin Alam, former additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Md Rashedul Islam, and former officer-in-charge of Rampura Police Station Md Moshiur Rahman. Of them, the two former BGB officials are currently in custody.

According to the case, 28 people were gunned down and many others injured in the Rampura area of the capital during the July Mass Uprising. 

Then BGB official Redwanul was seen firing live rounds from his automatic rifle at the time.

The prosecution has brought six specific charges against the accused.
