JHENAIDAH, Dec 5, 2025 (BSS) - Attorney General (AG) Md Asaduzzaman today
said that questioning whether Tarique Rahman is a Bangladeshi voter is
irrelevant, as he sought to contest elections in the country.

"If he (Tarique Rahman) wanted to take part in the elections, it must be
presumed that he is a citizen and a voter of Bangladesh," he said while
addressing an anniversary event of the Haji Welfare Association at Shailkupa
Government Degree College field this morning.

The Attorney General said the trial of the July mass killing case is
underway. "We have taken all necessary measures to ensure an expeditious
trial. There is no scope to disrupt or delay the judicial process," he added.

The anniversary programme, organised by the Shailkupa Upazila Haji Welfare
Association, was presided over by its president Alhaj Md Lutfor Rahman Tulu.
Hajjis and worshippers from different parts of the upazila attended the
event.

A special doa and munajat was offered seeking the recovery of Begum Khaleda
Zia, chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) who served as the
Prime Minister of Bangladesh three times.
