DHAKA, Dec 14, 2025 (BSS) - The Election Commission (EC) has issued letters to divisional commissioners, regional election officers, deputy commissioners and returning officers to ensure a conducive environment ahead of the 13th National Parliament elections.

The letter, signed by EC Secretariat Deputy Secretary (Polls Operation-2) Mohammad Manir Hossain, was issued today.

It said the schedule for the 13th National Parliament elections and referendum was announced on December 11, adding that the election will be held on February 12, 2026.

According to Rule 18 of the Electoral Code of Conduct for Political Parties and Candidates-2025, electioneering is permitted from three weeks before polling day until 48 hours prior to the vote.

The letter noted the observance of national and international days, as well as religious, social, and other programs, may be held outside the stipulated campaign period, provided such activities do not disrupt the electoral atmosphere and comply with the code of conduct.

However, it said candidates must obtain prior permission from the concerned returning officers before organizing any such programs.
