52 candidates to vie for each seat in HSTU admission test

DINAJPUR, Jan 13, 2026 (BSS) – The application process for the undergraduate first-year (honours) admission test for the 2025–26 academic year at Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU) has been completed.

A total of 94,375 candidates applied to the university’s four units this year.

Against 1,795 available seats, an average of 52 candidates will compete for each seat, said Md Khademul Islam, Director of the university’s Public Relations Department.

According to the university’s ICT Centre, the application process began at 4pm on November 16 and continued until 11:59pm on December 24.

Of the total applications, 30,275 were submitted for the ‘A’ unit, where about 56 candidates will compete for each of the 535 seats.

The ‘B’ unit received 26,812 applications, with around 37 candidates competing for each of the 740 seats. In the Architecture Department under the branch-based ‘B’ unit, about 41 candidates will vie for each of the 30 seats.

Meanwhile, 9,191 candidates applied for the ‘C’ unit, where 32 candidates will compete for each of the 280 seats. Branch-wise, around 43 candidates are competing for each seat in both science and non-science streams.

The ‘D’ unit received 27,097 applications, with 112 candidates competing for each of the 240 seats—the highest ratio among the four units.

The admission tests for all four units will be held on the university campus in phases over three days on January 26, 27 and 28, the source confirmed.
