EC approves 60 more appeals on 6th day against acceptance, rejection of nominations

DHAKA, Jan 15, 2026 (BSS) – The Election Commission (EC) approved 60 more appeals filed against the returning officers’ decisions to accept or reject nomination papers for the 13th National Election on the sixth day today. 

Besides, 29 appeals were rejected, while 10 appeals were kept pending, said an EC press release.

Hearings on appeals were held on 104 applications today. The commission also rejected five appeals filed against the acceptance of nomination papers.

The appeal hearings began at 10:00 am today at the Basement-2 auditorium of Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital’s Agargaon. After a one-hour break at noon, hearings continued until 5:00 pm.

The full commission, chaired by Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin, conducted the hearings until 5:00 pm with a one-hour recess in the afternoon.
