DHAKA, Jan 14, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Election Commission (EC) today said that no secrecy was breached over a video circulated on social media regarding postal ballot distribution in Bahrain.

In a press release, the EC said the video, dated January 12, 2026, showed ballot envelopes being sorted for delivery.

According to the Bangladesh Embassy in Bahrain, on January 11 Bahrain Post handed over 160 ballot envelopes to a colleague of the voters at their request, as they were at work.

After the matter came to the embassy's notice, Bahrain Post and the concerned expatriates were contacted. The individual later appeared at the embassy with 129 unopened envelopes that had not been delivered.

The EC said none of the envelopes was opened and that confidentiality was fully maintained.

It added that embassies were asked to coordinate with all concerned to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.
