KHULNA, Jan 14, 2026 (BSS) - The Drawing and Painting Discipline of Khulna University (KU) today observed the 148th birth anniversary of pioneer artist Shashibhushan Paul through a remembrance discussion and tribute ceremony.

The programme was held at 1:30 pm at the courtyard of the School of Fine Arts on the KU campus.

Speakers recalled the life and contributions of Shashibhushan Paul, noting that the School of Fine Arts at Khulna University was established in continuation of the institution founded by the pioneer artist.

Head of the Drawing and Painting Discipline Dr Md Tarikat Islam presided over the event. Associate Professor Mohammad Nazrul Islam addressed the programme, while Assistant Professor Shapla Singh spoke on behalf of the discipline's Alumni Association.

Floral tributes were paid to the memory of the eminent artist on behalf of the discipline.
