DMP files 2,167 cases for violating traffic rules

DHAKA, Jan 18, 2026 (BSS)- The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan 
Police (DMP) has filed 2,167 cases against motor vehicles as well as three 
wheelers and motorcycles for violating traffic rules in a single day across 
the capital.

A media release of the DMP today said that they filed those cases and 
realized the money on Saturday (January 17) through their regular drives 
against the traffic rule breakers.

A total of 353 motor vehicles were dumped and 175 were towed due to 
poor driving practices, said Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner (Media and 
Public Relations Division) of the DMP.

Of those, Ramna division filed 101 cases while Lalbagh division registered 
106 cases, Motijheel traffic division filed 207 cases, Wari division 
registered 593 cases, Tejgaon division filed 151 cases, Mirpur division filed 
688 cases, Uttara division registered 156 cases, Gulshan division filed 165 
cases against motor vehicles as well as three wheelers and motorcycles.

"The drives will continue to ensure discipline on the city streets," the 
release said, adding that the DMP has been working to bring the traffic 
system under smooth in the capital for giving city dwellers easy movement.
