GAZIPUR, Feb 4, 2026 (BSS) - Commerce and Civil Aviation and Tourism Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin today visited the tortured domestic help, 11-year-old Mohana, at the Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital.

During the visit this evening, the Adviser inquired about the child's physical condition from the doctors and instructed the hospital authorities to ensure the highest level of medical care.

Addressing the child during the visit, Sheikh Bashir Uddin offered words of comfort, stating, "Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus himself sent me to look after you. You have nothing to fear; we are by your side."

Condemning the act of violence, the Adviser remarked that such cruelty is unacceptable in a civilized society and asserted that the perpetrators would face appropriate punishment in this life and the hereafter.

The Commerce Adviser was accompanied during the hospital visit by D. Humayra Sultana, Additional Secretary of the Ministry and Managing Director of Biman; Mohammad Alam Hossain, Deputy Commissioner of Gazipur; and Dr. Aminul Islam, Director of the hospital.

Mohana was admitted to the hospital with severe injuries on January 31. The former Managing Director and CEO of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Safiqur Rahman, was arrested on February 2 following allegations of torturing the young girl.
